Data
The Canadian Municipal Barometer conducts a politician survey and a citizen survey annually, which together form the foundation of our data collection and research agenda.
The politician survey measures the opinions of mayors and councillors in municipalities with populations larger than 3,000 – a study population of nearly 8,000 elected representatives from more than 1,000 municipalities.
The citizen survey is fielded Canada-wide. With sample sizes between 6,000 and 7,000, it is among the largest and one of the most geographically representative public opinion survey in Canada.
We also conduct election studies of citizens as municipal elections occur in provinces across Canada.
